Troop 1916's Leadership & Organization
A "Scout-led troop" is an amazing thing to see and experience. Troop 1916 is composed of over 30 Scouts who live and attend schools in or near McLean, Virginia. The Troop's leadership and activities are based on the "Patrol Method."
Organizationally, the Scouts are divided into three patrols known as The Dragons, The Hydras, and the Yetis. The Troop holds elections for Scout leadership positions in September and February of each year, and each Scout has the opportunity to cast his vote in the elections.
The Scout Leaders work together to set the Troop's goals and propose activities that enrich the scouting experience. They encourage Scouts to be active participants in the Troop's events; help the younger Scouts learn new skills and understand how to rise in the organization's ranks; and ensure that every Scout fulfills his obligations in the Troop's many community service projects.
